How did a higher efficiency solar power system help Brendan save $1500 per quarter?

Brendan Bovill is the proud owner of a beautiful, remote four-bedroom home in Jamberoo. The home is close to the city and ticks all the boxes for Brendan and his partner. Despite being a big property, solar panels weren't an option when they first moved in, with the property going into shadow early in the afternoon during winter. However, with the new solar system's incredible efficiency, they were able to install solar panels and save money on their energy bills.

Before the solar panels, Brendan's energy bills were between $1200 and $1500 a quarter for a property with only two occupants. By shopping around and negotiating with suppliers, they were able to reduce their bill to $900 to $1000 a quarter. With the new solar panels, their last bill showed a credit of $35, proving that the system works well and can save homeowners money in the long run.

Well I'm Brendan Bovill, and we are in Jamberoo. I think the fact that it is just so beautiful and it looks so peaceful, it's remote without being sort of hugely remote. It is close to the city, we decided when we came here that we needed something that'd be under two hours from Sydney, and this just ticked all the boxes for us. Well it's a fairly a big home, it's four bedrooms and then we've got a pool house, which has another room. We also have a swimming pool, of course, which has some filters, which do use a lot of energy, and in winter, it's got a reverse cycle, so of course, we do have a heater on. We don't use the air conditioning so much in summer, but it is a house that uses a considerable amount of power, even though there's only two of us.

When we first moved here, we in fact, inquired about solar, and we did on two separate occasions. But this was shortly after we moved, and the people that came out said, I'm sorry, it just wouldn't work because you do go into shadow, in winter especially, fairly early in the afternoon. And they said it just wouldn't pay, and we got that answer, about twice. We found out that with the new system, and the incredible efficiency of it, that it was going to pay, and indeed it does. We wanted the best. I think to save money if we could, our bills when we first, I think that's when they were at their worst, they were somewhere between, $1200 and $1500 a quarter.
