How did high efficiency 400W solar panels help optimise the roof space at Palmerston College?

Synopsis

Palmerston College had limited roof space, but we managed to install a 90 kilowatt solar system using 225 400-watt panels. This has decreased their power bill by 27% and generates around 480 kilowatt hours per day, offsetting their usage. We chose the 400-watt panels because they are more efficient than others we've installed and deliver better quality and reliability.

The Northern Territory government schools have found that the 400-watt panels are much more efficient than other panels, which is why we opted for them. We had a requirement for a minimum roof space, and the 400-watt panels allowed us to achieve the highest system for the school. With 225 optimisers, the entire installation has great efficiency, reliability and overall quality, making it the most efficient system for the school.

So Palmerston College, we really had to work with, kind of, two roof faces there, as well as a walkway. We had a limited amount of room, so we had to go with the four hundreds obviously, so we could get a bigger size on that roof, utilising the size. It was about decreasing their power bill. So right now after we finished, we're probably sitting around the 27% of their entire load we're offsetting, which is great. And on the weekends, obviously a little bit more due to the school being closed. We utilise the four hundreds on this job because we had a minimum roof requirement that we could work with. So, being able to put 225 panels on this roof, meant we could achieve the highest system for the school. We've found that the four hundreds have proven to be a much more efficient panel than other panels that we've installed, which is why we opted to put it on Northern Territory government schools.

At the moment, this school generates around 480 kilowatt hours per day, offsetting their usage. So with this job here, we've used the 400 watts, because we had minimum roof space to work with. Using the 400, this is a much larger panel, we're able to, basically install and complete 90 kilowatt solar system to get the most efficient system we could for this school. Matched with 225 optimisers, it really gives great efficiency, reliability and overall quality to the entire installation.
