There's systems out there that haven't been on roofs for three or four years. We've been out there, completely looked over the systems, haven't been worth repairing. We've pulled them off and had to replace them with completely new systems. In doing this, it's quite a pointless exercise for people to be buying cheap solar. Because generally, by the time the system is even paid for itself, it's time to replace it because panels fail, there's micro cracks, burning, inverters failing. It really can be a mine field out there. In my time in the industry, I've turned up to installations where panels are left unearthed, Dektites not sealed properly, roof leaks, rooftop isolator fires, inverters catching on fire. There's a lot of things that can go wrong with solar. So, it's very important that you pick an installer that's going to do all the correct things.
We like to choose panels that are designed to last in the conditions like they're supposed to. In the Australian summer it can get up to 40 degrees. So, it's very important that you've got a panel that's able to handle those temperatures. There's a really big difference between quality. There is a lot of systems marketed out there and it is very important to select a high quality panel. It's a long-term investment. So, we're in it for the long haul. So that's why we need to make sure we're choosing products that are going to be there to back us, so that we can back the customer. So that way they're getting support, not just for the first two, three years, but in 10, 15, 20 years time. If you buy the right inverters and you buy the right panels, it is really a setup and forget type scenario. And it gives you years and years of hustle-free green electricity.
