What were the financial and environmental advantages of solar power for Jaques Coffee Plantation?

Synopsis

It's becoming increasingly important to consider implementing solar power, as not only does it reduce carbon dioxide emissions, but it also saves money in the long run. Each kilowatt you generate through solar power saves you approximately 30 cents, which is the current price of power from the grid. With the cost of power constantly increasing, investing in solar power now while government incentives are available is a wise decision.

Furthermore, using solar power can also benefit the environment and local businesses. By being power positive, you can achieve a clean and green plantation, and also support local family-owned businesses who offer 24/7 support. Additionally, the use of solar power can extend to other areas such as pressing diesel trees and using the diesel in harvesters and tractors to achieve a win-win situation for both the environment and the business.

It's crazy if you don't. If you're not using solar power, your are, A, you're costing a lot of extra carbon dioxide going into the atmosphere, B, your hip pocket. It's the main consideration. So if you can get your solar power while you're going for it, obviously it's got a payback period, but once you've got over that payback period, you're sitting in the credit. So each one of those kilowatts, you're essentially saving 30 cents a kilowatt because that's what the price of power is when you're just buying it from the grid in most instances. And you tell me, has power gone down in the last few years, or has it just gone up? And where's it going to go in the next couple of years? So if you get in now, while there is government incentives, then you're going to be even better off.

After they finish the installation, I want to be power positive, which I can pretty much certainly guarantee that we will be. Also as I said, we like to be clean and green out here on the plantation. So we've got diesel trees we've planted as well. So we'll be using the solar power to press the diesel trees, and then we'll be able to use the diesel in our harvesters and tractors. So it's a win-win situation on both fronts in that particular matter. Lots of solar power, lots of green energy and a clean, clean plantation.

Very good to get behind a local business. They came out, they had a look, they talked to us, they on the phone, they're going through all our concerns that we had. And also they were the best price out of everybody. So it's nice to know that I have a local team. A local business, family owned, here on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
