Why are cheap solar panel parts and system components bad for the environment?

Synopsis

Investing in solar energy has multiple environmental benefits, including reducing our reliance on non-renewable sources like coal-fired power plants. By using solar panels, we also eliminate transmission losses, further reducing our carbon footprint. Additionally, high-quality solar panels are built to last, reducing the chances of creating landfill issues. It's crucial to invest in a product that's environmentally responsible and built to last, as cheaper options can fail within a few years, adding to our waste problems.

There's an environmental benefit upfront because you're producing renewable energy, you're not sourcing that energy from say a coal fired power plant. You haven't got the transmission losses as well, so there's environmental benefit there. Plus there's environmental benefit in buying a high quality product. You know you're not- that product's built to last a long period of time, you're not creating any landfill issues. So you're really investing in a good product that's environmentally responsible. We have seen systems out there fail within three or four years, particularly these cheaper inverters. There has been some solar panels fail in the marketplace, they've ended up in landfill. Some of them can be recycled but a lot of them do end up in landfill. So it's important that we sell quality, built to last, and not going to create an issue down the track.
