Why are homeowners investing in higher quality solar power systems with longer product warranties?
Synopsis
When it comes to choosing a solar power system for your home, it's important to consider the yield, quality of products, and reliability. Homeowners are looking to save money on electricity bills while feeling good about their eco-friendly choice. A quality system is a good investment that will last for over 25 years, providing headache-free service with reliable panels, inverters, and connections.
While the industry standard is a 25-year performance warranty, it's important to consider the product warranty and the overall performance throughout the system's lifespan. With a superior product warranty and quality components, a homeowner can get more out of their investment over the life of the system. Investing a little more upfront in a quality system will provide long-term relief from electricity bills and a reliable, eco-friendly choice.

What homeowners should be looking at with their solar power systems, is they should be looking at obviously something that's going to give them good yield. But I think importantly, they're going to be looking at quality products and having a good quality product that's going to last. Not just the panel, but the frame and the connections, everything. I think what homeowners are looking to achieve with their solar systems are basically they want relief from electricity bills. There's no real other way of saying it.
I think everybody has a feel good factor to the fact that they're doing the right thing, but they want to have relief from their electricity bills. But what we find with the clients that we're dealing with is that they're often prepared to spend a little bit more upfront to put in quality systems, rather than putting in, what we call crap solar. It's definitely a good investment if you know that the product that you're going to put in is going to last 25, 30 years, headache free. Choosing a quality system is very important. You obviously want the panel to last, that's just a fundamental. You want your inverter or your micro-inverter to be reliable to last its warranty period, but well beyond.
The 25 year performance warranty is almost industry standard, but if you look a little bit deeper and you get a look at those warranties, you can have the panels performing, but if you have the connections falling apart, or the frame falling apart or the glass going opaque, it's useless that warranty. But more important is the product warranty. With the products we use, that is far superior. The actual performance throughout the whole 25 years of life and beyond, we don't just talk about the warranty period, we talk about a product that can last even beyond there. Therefore over the life of the system and the investment over that 25 year warranty period for example, you're going to get a lot more out of a quality system than you will out of a inferior system.
